Bill Banford, President
If you read our company history, you already know that Bill started out mowing lawns. Now, he spearheads the design and sales division, and works hand-in-hand with our talented design team to help our clients go from vision to reality. Bill is ICPI and NCMA certified and continues to educate himself in the field of landscape design and build. He enjoys drinking espresso while spending time with his wife and toddler.
Justin Banford, Vice President
Justin is the man behind the scenes – he helps take designs from paper to construction. He is responsible for the estimation of projects and material ordering. Have a question about your project? Justin’s your man. He has a degree in Landscape Management from the University of Maryland. He has over 15 years’ experience in landscaping and is also ICPI and NCMA certified. He was part of the first deck certification class in 2012 and is a Master Deck Professional through NADRA. In 2015, he became a husband and father.
Michael Boeck, Senior Designer
Michael is a professional landscape designer and horticulturist with 10 years of experience in the green industry. He received his masters in landscape architecture from the University of Maryland, and his b.s. in horticulture from the Ohio State University. Employing The Sharper Cut, Inc.’s deeply collaborative and personalized design process, Michael puts his passion for landscapes and place-making to work for each client he meets. In his free time, he can be found listening to Taylor Swift with his wife and daughter.
Andrew Frizzell, Project Manager
Andrew has been working in the DC Metro area for over 10 years. His philosophy of building outdoor living spaces has been rooted since earning his degree from West Virginia University in Recreation Management from the College of Agriculture, Forestry and Consumer Sciences. He is ICPI, PICP, NCMA, and OSHA certified. He will be in the field frequently supervising the crews building your dreamscape, from the start of construction to the end. Andrew is always willing to answer any questions about the construction process, as well as any design/redesign issues, in order to make your vision a reality. He enjoys spending time with his friends and family, especially his dogs – Brody and Gus.
Sydnie Major, Designer
Sydnie is one of the newest member of The Sharper Cut Landscapes team. She has a fresh take and unique perspective regarding all her designs. Looking for a creative thinker? She enjoys developing designs that are distinct and truly reflective of the client. She will weave in your personal style and create a design you’re sure to love. She is a graduate of West Virginia University in 2015. She loves to be outside, whether it be hiking or biking, she craves adventure and fun!
Troy Payne, Landscape Design Consultant
Troy has over 20 years of experience in interior and exterior space planning for furnishings which come in handy when helping clients to figure out how to design and make their outdoor living spaces. During his spare time, he really loves to be on his boat fishing, relaxing at the beach, and spending time with friends, family, and his dogs Lilly and Gabby. Also, Troy is the resident Sharper Cut Chef! He loves to cook on the Big Green Egg and from time to shares tasty morsels he grills with everyone on the team.
Matt Bonning, Landscape Design Consultant
Matt has over 20 years of experience within the Commercial and Residential Landscape industry. He’s also a certified or licensed in almost everything landscape related: Certified Professional Horticulturalist, Certified Landscape Technician, Plant ID Specialist for Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and DC, IPM-Integrated Pest Management, and Pesticide License for Maryland! He loves the design process and jumps at the opportunity to take a home owner’s dream, turn it into a concept, then into their reality. Matt also likes building, hiking, being outdoors, working on his aquariums, and spending time with his cat Shadow.
Connie Banford, Office Administrator
When you phone Sharper Cut Landscapes, the first voice you’ll hear is Connie Banford, office administrator. She oversees the daily activities and makes sure things run smoothly. After a background on Capitol Hill and The West Wing of The White House, she launched and ran her own successful business for 30 years so she could be home with her two toddlers. She came out of retirement to work with her sons at Sharper Cut Landscapes. Her favorite pastime is spending time with her husband, her two sons, their wives, and their children.
Deb Lee, Marketing Manager
Deb is the woman behind our digital and traditional marketing efforts. She creates campaigns and tinkers with creative ideas to bring attention to our unique design process. Deb also has a serious affection for mobile apps and is always on the hunt for the best cup of coffee.
Jesus Pineda, Lead Foreman
Jesus is our longest tenured employee, and works in the field on variety of projects. He is going 11 years strong, which shows his dedication and love for what he does. In fact, he loves what he does so much he has brought the rest of his family to work with us. He is the friendly face that clients see working along side the construction crews, and is always ready to respond to questions. He enjoys spending time with his wife and children and playing guitar.
Cruz Plistes, Foreman
Cruz has been with The Sharper Cut, Inc. Landscapes for many years and works in the field on variety of projects. In 2015, he will have been with the company for 10 years, working alongside his two brothers – Jesus and Wilbur. He is a skilled craftsman and always ready to answer questions. Cruz loves fishing and is always hoping to catch the big one to impress his daughter.
Oswaldo Cortes, Foreman
Oswaldo is the foreman responsible for all those great outdoor structures – decks, fences, gazebos, outdoor kitchens. All carpentry projects are run by his crew and he takes great pride in the quality of his work. He enjoys playing guitar and singing; can see the videos online.
Jovani Tejada, Foreman
Jovani has been a valued member of The Sharper Cut Landscapes team since 2007. He has a great work ethic and it shows in his completed projects. He is our newest foreman, and continually develops solutions for our clients in the field. He also brought his two brothers to work here that possess that same work ethic. He likes spending time with his family.
